Water Programs:

Surf Aware:
Program on the beach running for approximately 3 hours and aimed at participants aged 8 – 9 years (school years 3 and 4). Topics covered include personal safety and what to do in an emergency, beach awareness, sun safety and water confidence and are covered during the surf awareness talk and by participating in water activities during the session.
 
Surf Safe:
Program on the beach running for approximately 3 hours and aimed at participants aged 10 – 11 years (school years 5 and 6) Topics covered include personal safety, unsafe behaviours, beach awareness, identifying dangers at the beach, sun safety, and surf safety and water confidence. These topics are all covered during the surf awareness talk and by participating in water activities during the session.
 
Surf Smart:
Program on the beach running for approximately 3 hours and aimed at participants aged 12+ years (school years 7 and above) Topics covered include personal safety, unsafe behaviours, people “at risk”, beach and environmental awareness, identifying dangers at the beach, sun safety, surf safety and survival options in rips. These topics are all covered during the surf awareness talk and by participating in water activities during the session.

Surf Survival:
The surf survival certificate is an assessable program. At the completion of the course participants will be examines by an endorsed assessor in the four assessment tasks listed in the syllabus and must complete these to the satisfaction of the assessor. Schools require students to have this award as the minimum qualification prior to being able to select surfing as their school sport.
